Hormones are the messenger system of the body. Everyone has hormones within the body and the functions of hormones include everything from regulating
proper growth and metabolism, to the development and regulation of menstrual cycles. Hormones are produced in the endocrine glands of the body including
the pancreas, pituitary, thymus, and adrenal glands.
As the body's messenger system, hormones essentially tell the body's cells, tissues, and organs what to do. They tell ovaries to produce estrogen and
progesterone to regulate the menstrual cycle, for example. Healthy hormonal function and balance is essential for overall well-being. There are in fact
over 6000 endocrine related disorders so hormones affect almost every function within our bodies.
Hormones often work in conjunction with other hormones to create balance within the body. Adrenaline for example, puts organs into a state of high alert or fight or flight, so the heart pumps faster, the cells create glucose and so on. Noradrenaline is the opposite of adrenaline and it puts the organs into a
state of relaxation or rest and digest where the heart rate slows down, digestion is switched on and the immune system is switched on.
This is why it is important to ensure that you have a healthy hormonal balance in the body. Too much of one type of hormone can cause the body to become
imbalanced and this can lead to chronic or even life threatening conditions.
A good hormonal support supplement is a very effective way of ensuring the hormonal system in the body remains healthy and balanced.
